Head of Datacenter (m/f/d)

Your responsibilities
- Provide functional and disciplinary leadership to the Datacenter department, overseeing the operation of global data centers and core infrastructure services
- Drive the strategic advancement of the datacenter architecture (on‑premise and hybrid), applying Zero‑Trust design principles in close partnership with Corporate Security
- Ensure the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the IT service landscape across:
- Server, storage, and virtualization infrastructure
- Backup and recovery systems
- Monitoring, logging, and alerting platforms
- Operating systems (Windows/Linux)
- Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Active Directory
- Plan and lead infrastructure initiatives such as consolidation programs, site expansions, lifecycle management, and technology upgrades
- Guarantee scalability, high availability, business continuity, and disaster recovery—including emergency preparedness and testing
- Oversee system performance, incident management, and security events in close collaboration with Corporate Security and business stakeholders
- Monitor and improve energy efficiency and space utilization, ensuring sustainability and cost optimization
- Ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks (e.g., GSMA, PCI CPP) and internal security, compliance, and data‑protection requirements
- Manage vendors and external service providers, including hardware partners and service providers
- Define, standardize, and implement operational processes, policies, and guidelines (e.g., ITIL, ISO 27001)
- Take full budget and resource ownership for the Datacenter division, including planning, forecasting, and investment management
- Foster cross‑site collaboration, knowledge sharing, and alignment across global teams
- Manage interfaces within Group Services and coordinate with business units
- Lead IT projects end‑to‑end—from conception to successful implementation
Your qualifications
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a comparable field
- Several years of experience in datacenter operations and IT infrastructure, ideally in a leadership or project management capacity
- Strong expertise in server, storage, virtualization, and backup technologies
- Experience with Zero‑Trust architectures, Software‑Defined Datacenter concepts, and modern security frameworks (e.g., containerization)
- Experience working with hybrid infrastructures (on‑premise / cloud such as Azure or AWS)
- Solid knowledge of operating systems (Windows/Linux), IAM platforms, and directory services
- Familiarity with IT service management (ITIL), change and incident processes, and compliance or security standards
- Strong analytical mindset paired with excellent communication skills
- Broad understanding of G+D business models, organizational structures, and processes is an advantage
- Customer‑focused, results‑driven working style with strong conceptual and strategic capabilities
- Confident communicator with strong presentation and decision‑making skills, including credibility at senior‑management level
- High degree of responsibility, organizational talent, and reliability
- Excellent written and spoken German and English
