Head of Global IP Business (m/f/d)
We seek a modern business leader to build and lead our consolidated and business-driven IP organization. In this role you will lead cross-functional work to maximize return on IP investments.
As an innovative and technology intensive company, intellectual property has always been of high importance to G+D and our IP capabilities are strong. G+D’s business, the competitive landscape and the technology scope evolve fast with increased focus on digital. This means new missions to address with IP.
To future-proof our business, we are consolidating IP management into a new function – Global IP Business. The new organization shall proactively use IP to support business objectives cross G+D Group. We are looking for a person to lead the department and its transformation to business-driven IP management.
We believe that you are either:
- An entrepreneurial technology or business leader with experience from IP, or
- A progressive IP professional seeking a management role.
You will report directly to our Corporate Chief Technology Officer in a role with executive management visibility.
Your responsibilities:
You will be accountable for return on IP investments – for the proactive creation, management and use of IP portfolios to impact revenue, costs and risks cross G+D’s businesses. You will:
- Have responsibility for the G+D IP strategy, for integrating the IP function into the strategic dialogue of business sectors and translating business needs into IP actions.
- Lead cross-functional work to ensure having the right IP portfolios, and use IP assets as competitive tools e.g., for standardization and in transactions and negotiations.
- Drive, inspire and safeguard the journey towards a consolidated and business-driven IP organization.
- Develop IP processes, governance, and organization, and ensuring the highest possible operational efficiency.
- Lead the business-driven IP culture in G+D, including to attract, develop and retain top people.
Your skills:
- At least 5 years leadership or manager experience, ideally in a multinational setting.
- Strong experience from driving technology-based – and ideally digital – business.
- Strong entrepreneurial drive with the ability lead in a people- and value-focused way.
- Working knowledge of patents, designs, copyright, trademarks, and trade secrets.
- People person with strong communication and networking skills, and experience from building relationships across business functions.
- Fluent in English. Proficiency in German is a plus.
