To future-proof our business, we have recently consolidated our IP management under the Corporate Technology Office and are establishing a modern, business-oriented IP organization.

 

For our Corporate IP department, we are looking for an IP Portfolio Manager (m/f/d) to build and lead our cross-functional portfolio team for cards and digital payments. The IP Portfolio Manager role is a cross-over between a business strategist and an IP-savvy technologist. In this role you will translate between business and IP in the strategic dialogue and drive cross-functional work to maximize return on our investments in IP for the Secure Transaction + Services Division. The role positions IP as a strategic partner with a seat at the table in the business’ leadership.

 

You will report to our Head of Corporate Intellectual Property and work inside the Secure Transaction + Services Division.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure return on division IP investments: As the IP-side of the divisions’ IP-Business partnerships you are accountable for effectively building, managing and using IP portfolios to support business objectives
  • Integrate in business: Be a partner to the business and partake in the strategic dialogue to impact direction and results
  • Set strategy: Translate division business needs into IP actions, e.g., by defining IP value missions and developing clear and executable IP jobs-to-be-done, to ensure proactive and agile planning, creation and use of IP
  • Budget responsible: Set and manage Division IP budget together with the division. Monitor and control IP spend related to the Division IP portfolio
  • Lead the division IP portfolio team by assign, oversee and ensure effective day-to-day execution of IP jobs-to-be-done, drawing from G+D corporate IP capabilities
  • Ensure cross-functional use of IP: Drive cross-functional work to maximize IP’s impact on revenue, costs and risks, incl. facilitating transactions and negotiations
  • Support in development of team members: Provide feedback on day-today performance and act as a primary input to capability leaders in performance evaluation of team members
  • Be part of the C-IP management team: Partake in resource planning, continuous development of the operating model and support efficiency initiatives
  • Build business driven IP culture: Drive the change journey towards a business-driven IP culture and way of working - in the IP organization as well as in the business

Your skills

  • In-depth understanding of technology-based sources of competitiveness, and IP’s role in technology- and data-intensive business

  • Strong entrepreneurial drive and business acumen with the ability lead in a people- and value-focused way
  • Strong knowledge of technology areas relevant for connectivity to ensure ability to communicate with R&D and business. Preferable also knowledge of fast-paced digital business
  • Strong leadership qualities and being a people person with strong communication and networking skills and experience from building relationships across business functions
  • Working knowledge of patents, designs, copyright, trademarks, and trade secrets
  • fluent in English, proficiency in German is a plus
