JOB SUMMARY
The Ink Technician works 1st shift Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:00pm in Bolingbrook, IL and is responsible for managing ink supplies and operating the Silk Screen press as needed, including setting up and running the automatic cylinder screen printing press per established procedures and safety standards, while cleaning and maintaining equipment and the workstation to ensure consistent quality and efficiency.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Receives production order and job assignments from supervisor.
- Verifies size, color, and type of substrate and color of ink from job order. Stages inks. Obtains and checks screens, squeegee, and related supplies to produce job.
- Sets up press by installing screens, squeegee, flood bar, and by registering stock to press and screen image; sets up feeder, take-off, and stackers.
- Sets dryer for proper drying or curing.
- Prints proof sheets, checks registration and color matches against job order, and secures supervisor's approval prior to production run.
- Prints job maintaining optimum production rate, color density, registration, and quality standard according to customer specifications or company guidelines.
- Maintains continuous inspection of job specifications and quality throughout production run, collecting production run samples as required.
- Follows all safety and operational procedures.
- May be responsible for directing the work of a press helper.
- Completes production records to update work performed during each shift.
- Ensure proper cleanliness of press, workstation, and immediate press area with assistance of press helper Perform minor press repairs when necessary.
- May train press helper(s) to operate press.
- Performs research and development to improve overall processes and quality of the silk screen department.
- Flatbed operator
- Cylinder press backup to cover for vacations and absences on all shifts
- Perform related job duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 3 years of experience operating a silk screen press
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment. Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Requires normal color perception.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in the plastic card industry
- Experience operating a Sakurai Press
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Requires working on hard floor – standing, sitting, walking, laying, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting and stooping.
- Requires the ability to lift 25 pounds regularly with occasional lifting to upwards of 50 pounds.
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00 per hour and is eligible for an annual bonus.
