Job Summary
The Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and security of network and firewall infrastructure across multiple sites. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and security of all network and firewall systems, proactively manages network projects, and maintains comprehensive documentation. The Network Administrator leads all network related initiatives and is the primary owner of network and firewall operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Network & Systems Administration
- Own, design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless) across all company sites.
- Install, configure, and support network hardware (switches, routers, wireless access points, servers).
- Monitor network performance, capacity, and availability to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
- Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and patching of network devices and systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance issues.
- Lead network-related projects, including system upgrades, expansions, and new site deployments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network topology, configurations, and procedures.
Firewall & Network Security
- Own, configure, manage, and maintain firewalls to protect network infrastructure at all sites.
- Create, review, and maintain firewall rules, policies, and access control lists (ACLs).
- Monitor firewall logs and alerts to identify and respond to security threats.
- Manage VPN configurations for secure remote and site-to-site connectivity.
- Perform regular firewall policy reviews to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Apply firewall firmware updates, patches, and rule optimizations.
- Collaborate with security and IT teams to implement and enforce network security best practices.
- Lead incident response and remediation for network security events.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for network infrastructure.
Leadership & Documentation
- Serve as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all network and firewall matters.
- Create and maintain departmental procedures and documentation.
- Prepare reports and records of network activities for management.
- Provide guidance and leadership to junior network staff as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned related to network and firewall infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in network administration with multi-site responsibility.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and subnetting.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise network equipment (Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or similar).
- Practical experience administering firewalls and VPN technologies.
- Familiarity with network monitoring, diagnostic, and security tools.
- Understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Experience with operating systems including Windows, UNIX, and Linux.
- Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications such as:
- Cisco CCNA
- CompTIA Network+ or Security+
- Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSA, or equivalent
- Experience with cloud or hybrid networking environments (Azure, AWS).
- Exposure to scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python).
- Experience supporting multi-site or global network infrastructures.

The pay range for this position is $90,356-$98,448 and is eligible for an annual bonus.
