Job Summary
As a key member of the senior management team, this role is responsible to develop, communicate and execute the daily Production plan and supporting tool sets to meet all customer deliveries and contractual obligations. This will be accomplished through leading the regular coordination and interpretation of the information exchange between Sales, Supply Chain and the Production departments and converting the details to a master production schedule ensuring all resources (materials and people) have been secured in accordance with the Delivery Plan. In addition, the incumbent will conduct ongoing risk identification activities and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
This role will liaise and collaborate closely with the other members of the senior management team and the Region, to ensure continuous alignment of priorities and issue resolution, including the supply chain team regarding production planning and demand forecasting. The ability to think strategically while at times also being able to work side by side with the team to provide guidance and direction will be critical.
To be successful as a candidate, the individual must be a superior communicator who can quickly assess the relevant details of a situation and provide clear feedback and guidance on a course of action. They will also need to possess strong management skills to oversee and direct the activities of teams across various functional areas as well as various technical abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, direct and develop production execution activities across multiple business lines in a 24/7 operational environment with a dedicated Business Solutions Team of 9 FTE.
- Responsible for the execution of the strategic operational positioning and readiness for the local delivery of card manufacturing and personalization technologies with a focus and commitment to the achievement of customer contractual obligations, key performance indicators and profitability targets.
- Review, interpret and take decisive action on Operational and Demand Forecast information; coordinate and develop periodic operational analysis with a een focus on identifying risks to the production plan, developing mitigation activities while also improving accountability and efficiency.
- Effectively integrate the local Production deliverables into the G&D matrix organization involving both Regional Operations (ROPS) and various GDM Global functions. Activities include effective planning for load balancing, maximizing capacity and resource utilization, and supporting activities for new Product introduction.
- Ensures that the master production schedule is created, maintained, and distributed to optimize production to meet daily delivery schedules and forecasted customer demand.
- Directly supervise, develop, and nurture the individuals of the Business Solutions’ Team to maximize their daily effectiveness and position them for growth opportunities within the company.
- Manages, develops and maximizes the production planning processes and effective use of the system and MES tools to track and monitor the shop floor activities to support a 7x24 production environment. Expansion of AI based tools and activities expected.
- Oversee the timely and accurate completion and communication of job status, systems updates and data analysis to review and evaluate production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory and finished goods demand.
- Ensures that internal customers have all available and current status of information.
- Serves as the first point of contact to Production for Customer Service and Sales inquiries including production status, planning activities, production project updates, and other related topics relating to / impacting Production and Supply Chain activities.
- Provide strategic input to maintain capacity vs load forecast and priority dispatch of orders.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Production Management and Sales to avoid and/or mitigate material shortages through the effective scheduling of production resources.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance local production statistics and measurements and provide detailed reporting and analysis as required by Senior Management (local, regional, global).
- Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, problem-solving, production control and decision-making practices and principles in a highly detailed environment.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of production specifics and guidelines to facilitate the effective implementation and onboarding of applications in the most production-efficient manner.
- Continually assess and develop the team and practices to provide an efficient, customer-oriented communication and information hub for production planning and forecasting.
- Proactively develop and maintain knowledge, skills, and expertise to achieve positive results.
- Demonstrates intellectual curiosity about the current environment and challenges the status quo with a bias towards action and continuous improvement.
- Project lead and execution of initiatives relating to scheduling and/or production planning as it relates to the scope of Business Solutions.
- This position is expected to be able to effectively chair and coordinate multi-disciplinary meetings on a regular basis, and at different levels of the organization from front-line supervisory to executive level

Qualifications, Experience and Educational Requirements
Work Experience:
- Minimum 7 years+ of progressive management experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment. This includes Sales & Operational Planning activities, Product Launches and Customer implementations.
- Progressive experience working with ERP, MRP, MES and Reporting systems.
- Experience and exposure to a production/manufacturing environment.
Skills and Competencies:
- Working knowledge of the following areas:
- Production scheduling and planning concepts
- Operations management concepts and methodology including Lean and Six Sigma
- Project Management skills
- Supply Chain management
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
- Strong computer skills/ use of Microsoft Office products (knowledge of advanced spreadsheet is an asset)
- Strong working knowledge of ERP (SAP an asset), MRP and MES systems within a manufacturing environment
- SAP specific: Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and Sales & Distribution (SD)
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
- Demonstrates a high level of accountability and ownership
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/ Post Secondary Diploma in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field
- The following certifications are considered an asset:
- APICS certification
- CPIM - Certified Planning and Inventory Management
- SAP Certified Application Associate - Production Planning and Manufacturing
- CPE - Certified Planning Engineer
- Lean / Six Sigma
Working Conditions
- 25-35% Internal meetings regarding planning, demand forecastig and status review
- 5% Customer meetings regarding planning and status review
- 15% Production floor interaction and follow up
- 30% Team interaction and oversight
- 15-25% Sales and Senior Management interaction regarding status review and planning
- Required to transition frequently between office and high-security production floor environments while managing daily activities
- Frequent meeting attendance as both participant and chair based upon the topics and/or focus
- Dynamic and fast-paced environment with changing priorities and multi-tasking challenges daily
- Direct Reports: 9-15 employees
Physical Requirements
- Sitting for meeting attendance and PC work for a maximum of 1-2 hours infrequently
- Safety shoes and smock required while in production areas
- Infrequent requirement for after-hours and/or weekend support of activities within the scope of this role
