Manager, Quality

Primary Responsibilities

  • Actively lead the ISO 9001 Quality Management System at G+D Canada – including the customer complaint and internal non-conformance system, Quality KPI metric collection and reporting, internal quality audit program and the controlled document management system. Ensuring that the local system remains algned with the Global Quality System.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to ensure all levels of leadership at G+D Canada understand the importance of designing effective processes that are appropriately documented, with corresponding employee training and management ownership of non-conformance remediation.  Ensure managers know they are the owners of their processes and support them using all of the tools and services that the Quality Management function can offer them.  
  • Oversee the preparation of local, regional and global quality reporting.  Coordinate cross-functional quality initiatives such as Cost of Non-conformance (CoNC) and Customer Complaint (CC) reduction.  Present monthly quality KPI data to global Quality and Operations Management..
  • Assist the Quality Engineers in performing complaint investigations, preparing 8D reports and Client Incident Reports, and approving responses.
  • Manage the Quality Risk Register, tracking quality complaint, non-conformance and audit related corrective and preventative actions to ensure remediation is completed and sustained.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Quality Management (QM) staff, including organizing their performance management, training and professional development initiatives.
  • Facilitate the development and perform the monitoring of annual Quality group priorities and accomplishments, including the completion of annual performance appraisals of direct reports.
  • Prepare annual QM budgets and manage QM costs.
  • Prepare qualification plans for new card constructions.
  • Actively manage the quality role within the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) process.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned
  • Participate in supplier and customer review meetings in close collaboration with the VP, Security and Quality Management and the Sales Group
  • Review QM requirements related to sales contracts and advise Sales Executives on input
  • Participate in the regional and global quality manager’s meetings when required

Qualifications, Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years in a Quality Engineering or QM role in an industrial or IT environment
  • Minimum 5 years managing employees
  • Experience implementing an ISO 9001 compliant Quality Management System, liaising with audit and certification authorities and responding to audit findings and remediation
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written along with experience in report writing
  • Excellent investigation, problem solving and interpersonal skills including experience in the 8D investigation methodology
  • Experience working in ISO/IEC 9001 and 14001/18001 certified organizations and supporting the ongoing compliance and maintenance of these certifications
  • LEAN and Six Sigma experience is an asset
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) methodologies is preferred
  • Experience in the payment and ID card industry is preferred
  • Experience in Information Technology Quality Management is preferred
  • Post-Secondary education with a degree or diploma

Working Conditions

  • Office environment with some plant exposure (lab coat and safety shoes mandatory)
  • Must be accessible by company cell phone 24/7
  • Overtime work may be required
  • May be required to travel up to 5% of the time including international travel
