Job Summary


As a key member of the Global Procurement Team, the mandate of the Regional Purchasing Director (RPD) is to actively contribute to the ongoing improvement of the G+D Group’s Procurement by identifying potentials within the various sites in the Americas Region. The RPD will be responsible for 50 million USD and provide strong leadership to the Purchasing colleagues with an emphasis on tight balance between global material category strategies to local needs and safeguarding contractual and commercial measures in place. G+D is a matrix organization.  The RPD position has functional & disciplinary reporting to Global Purchasing and Regional Finance, Americas.  


Primary Responsibilities


  • Effectively participate in the development, alignment and integration of the G+D Group’s Procurement policies and procedures into the daily activities of the local production sites. This requires a strong focus on the development and implementation of Purchasing costs down road maps and initiatives. 

  • Act as a Gate Keeper for Implementation for Global Categories into the Americas Region and vice versa

  • Take ownership for Special Projects, e.g., integration of M&A related Purchasing content on facilities, suppliers, people, processes

  • Develop, direct and support the local site Purchasing activities across multiple business lines in a 24/7 operational environment. Activities include:

    • Participate in the Regional activities to source, evaluate, select, certify and audit global/regional suppliers and partners in support of Global Operations, Quality Management and Global Procurement

    • Develop and implement contract management, supplier scorecards, procurement frameworks, sourcing strategies, negotiate agreements, draft and manage contracts, etc.

    • Accurately identifies risk affecting supply, transformation, delivery and customer demand; conducts risk assessments and develops recovery plans to minimize the impact of supply chain disruptions.

    • Improve the flow of information to and from suppliers, internal customers and partners.

    • Coordinate purchasing activities with local Finance functions to optimize cash flows and minimize working capital requirements.

  • Acts as point of contact for the Region on some tactical and strategic supply chain issues while representing the company with Suppliers for Purchasing related issues.

  • Participate in the hiring, training, supervision, mentoring, and performance evaluations of supply chain staff in the Region. Activities include the development/support of supply chain-based training materials and technical manuals.

  • Review, interpret and take decisive action on financial and operational information impacting the supply chain, working capital, material availability etc.

  • Awareness of and the ability to monitor changes to the business environment (e.g., commodity prices, exchange rates, allocation etc.)  in order to plan and prepare for potential impact as well as to identify supply chain related optimization opportunities. 

  • Stay informed of advances in Procurement technology and Digitalization approaches, and apply within the organization to improve the current status

  • Driving ongoing enhancements around Supplier Diversity and ESG subjects incl. Carbon Footprint reductions


Qualifications, Experience and Educational Requirements


Work Experience: 

  • A results-oriented self–directed individual with comprehensive and diverse experience in all aspects of Procurement or Purchasing Management in a multinational manufacturing environment 

  • Proven experience in managing a global/regional network of suppliers with an understanding of the varied customs, legal and regulatory issues

  • 10+ years of relevant experience at the Senior Management level. 


  • Fully bilingual in both English and Spanish. capable of carrying on business-related activities in both languages.

  • Strong working knowledge of MRP/ ERP systems – SAP ECC preferred. 

  • Skilled on various MS365 Software, especially PowerPoint and Excel 

  • Has a deep understanding of the E2E supply chain activities and the corresponding impact on Working Capital and P&L

  • Demonstrated ability in managing internal customer relationships in a matrix organization comprised of strong business leaders. An emphasis on collaboration and organizational awareness to ensure quick and decisive decision-making.

  • Possesses advanced skills in the areas of communication, conflict management and negotiation.

  • Strong organizational and planning abilities with attention to detail coupled with a high degree of adaptability and flexibility to manage the change agenda.

  • Strong analytical skills and abilities to interpret quantitative data.

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering or Operational Management discipline or equivalent job experience.  Strong emphasis on analytical thinking capabilities. 

  • Certification in one or more of the following: 

    • CSCP - Certified Supply Chain Professional 

    • CPIM - Certified Production Inventory Management

    • CPM - Certified Purchasing manager

    • CPSM – Certified Professional in Supply Management  


Working Conditions


  • Office and Work from Home (about 50% possible)

  • As this position supports both Corporate and Regional requirements, the incumbent is expected to travel on occasion to the US, Mexico, Brazil, Germany and possible other G+D locations.
