Backup & Storage Administrator

Job Summary:


Provide high-level technical expertise in the area of IT infrastructure. Designs and implements infrastructure solutions in collaboration with business and product development teams. Further, this individual would be responsible to ensure that the established processes to meet the regulatory and G+D corporate security requirements are respected and optimized, in a fast paced and critical environment. We are looking for an experienced System Adminstrator that brings a broad set of skills and serves as a technical lead in the region.




  • Manage and maintain the company's storage-based systems and the deployment of these storage technologies
  • Work with existing System Administrators and DBAs to optimize storage, backup, restore and replication
  • Provide architecture and performance recommendations within the IT infrastructure team.
  • Ensure backup methods are in place and testing of FC LUNs
  • Develop and maintain records for entire storage systems
  • Review system performance and efficiency.
  • Analyzes and resolves complex storage problems across the enterprise, related to replication strategies, and storage strategies across wide area networks.
  • Provides recommendations on storage upgrades and supports project integration as required.
  • Case-Handling with several vendors
  • Documentation and maintain network diagrams and configuration changes 
  • Plan and execute changes, including coordination, planning and notification about changes. 
  • Make recommendations for the enhancement of the operational processes
  • Provide regional Firewall administration support
  • Work in a global team of experts to support internal and external customers around the globe
  • Conduct monthly (weekend) maintenance activities
  • Working with different G+D divisions 
  • Provide on-call support 


Qualifications, Experience and Educational Requirements:


  • Must have minimum 7 years of experience in managing and configuring systems, storage and backup solutions. 
  • Deep knowledge in storage and backup management (HPE, Netapp, Commvault) is mandatory
  • Experience in troubleshooting Windows Server, complex computing platforms, storage systems including SAN and NAS arrays, and cutting-edge technologies involving virtualization, distribution, and high availability
  • Knowledge of existing industry standards, technologies, and operational norms
  • Knowledge about VMWare, Linux and Microsoft Windows-Server technologies is appreciated
  • Experience with NetApp and HPE 3PAR/Primera arrays is preferred
  • Deep understanding of storage protocols such as NFS, CIFS, FC, etc, backup and recovery
  • Experience in managing storage systems from vendors such as EMC, NetApp & HPE
  • Working experience in Server Operating System Administration.
  • Basic Understanding in Network-Technologies.
  • Experience in Rack- and Blade-Server technologies.
  • Experience in structured and formalized IT operations according to ITIL standard
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to direct their teams and communicate IT needs to organization leaders
  • Self-organizes, collaborates and manages efforts with peers and teams across responsibility areas, languages, geography and time zones
  • Aself-starter, curious and not afraid to ask questions and challenge the way things are done today
  • Sees a problem or opportunity, takes ownership and acts on it independently 
  • Develops methods and habits to be an informed and motivated product owner
  • Informs, educates and develops team members, peers and customers to grow expertise, alignment and collaboration
  • Presents ideas concisely and in an informative manner to both large and small audiences 
  • Demostrates situational and organizational awareness to take ownership or escalate issues to achieve coverage of our global footprint
  • Responsible to maintain confidentiality 
  • College Certification or University Degree in the technology related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Certification in OS, Storage and Backup solutions 


Working Conditions:


  • Safety Shoes/boots is mandatory on Production/Manufacturing floor
  • Limited travelling is required
  • Providing  Level 3 support after-hours
  • Available to work flexible hours and weekends to conduct maintenance and upgrades
  • Able to rack servers and networking devices
  • Able to manage network cabling for the servers
