Process Engineer - Service Bureau

Job Summary: The Service Bureau Process Engineer will be responsible for the development and improvement of lean-minded, reliable personalization and fulfillment processes.  This person works closely with quality, engineering, maintenance, service bureau personnel, and senior management to implement the strategic goals of the company. 

 

Job Duties:

  • Supports the launch of new/revised products by modifying or creating all needed job, form, card, data, audit and other setups as needed for personalization and fulfillment steps.
  • Executes tests of new products to validate setups and data processing produce the correct output.
  • Supports the growth of the digital print area, establishing processes and setups to expand product offering and improve efficiency.
  • Apply working knowledge of personalization and fulfillment processes and equipment to optimize and continuously improve their output.
  • Develop closed-loop process controls that ensure processes are statistically capable and able to remain as such.
  • Core focus on overall equipment effectiveness and opening bottlenecks within each value stream, especially in the areas of availability and quality.   
  • Participates or leads activities in equipment selection, plant floor/cell layout, and infrastructure improvements. 
  • Narrow production problems down to root cause and effectively eliminate them at their source.
  • Estimates future production equipment and tool requirements.
  • Serves as the liaison to quality regarding new product launch and correction of systemic issues within the production area.  
  • Creates specifications, writes and executes site acceptance test plans for equipment purchases and works with the supplier to ensure the system meets these specifications.
  • Works with Production, Quality, Engineering and outside vendors to ensure new products and equipment are delivered on time and meets customer requirements.
  • Helps to provide process documentation, operating instructions, and overall hand-off actions to key stakeholders for new or revised process, or production new equipment
  • Designs and coordinates the manufacture/acceptance of customized tooling, gages, and equipment modifications in cooperation with engineering and quality. 
  • Creates personalization specification, layouts, and cell layouts.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.

 

Job Specifications: 

  • Work performed in a light industrial setting
  • Required to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand and walk about the facility
  • Ability to distinguish color variations
  • Able to use various measuring devices
  • Ability to work safely around industrial controls, low voltage electrical, high-voltage electrical, hydraulic systems, pneumatics systems, electric motors and sensing equipment
  • Must be able to work assigned overtime as needed
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed

 

Qualifications and Skills:      

  • Associates degree in Engineering, Engineering technology, or 5+ years of experience in an equivalent role   
  • Must be a quality and efficiency minded individual
  • Strong aptitude in logical problem solving
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems
  • Experience creating setups for card personalization and fulfillment required.
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Experience with changeover optimization and 5S a preference
  • Lean management or six sigma experience a plus
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs
  • Statistics background and statistical process control experience preferred
  • Ability to read and understand Blueprints or Technical Drawings, calculate tolerance stack-up, ISO and Industry associated standards and test instructions
  • Self-confident, detail oriented, and able to work at times with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent eye for detail
