Shipper/Receiver
Job Summary
The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for receiving material by following policies and procedures; providing on time service to all of our external & internal customers. The operator is responsible for helping ensure that all of our out-going shipments are shipped on time as per our service level agreements (SLA); maintaining the quality of work and adhering to corporate security policies and procedures. The operator is also responsible for supporting departments by ensuring supplies requested are provided in a timely manner.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide quick and reliable service for internal and external customers
- Work in accordance to procedures and policies
- Perform all data entry duties
- Perform inventory/cycle counts
- Escalate any business or safety concerns to the Supervisor
- Adhere to all corporate security policies and procedures
- Perform incoming material inspections as per policies and procedures
- Perform out-going shipments and quality inspections as per policies and procedures
- Load and unload transport trucks
- Move material from department to departments
- Warehouse material as per policies and procedures
- Use the Time Management System (TMS) as per GDCAMS procedures
Secondary Responsibilities
- Perform daily equipment inspections as per policies and procedures
- Keep warehouse and work stations clean – general house keeping
- Provide ideas and suggestion to the Supervisor for process improvement opportunities
- Comply with G&D Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures and report any Environmental, Health & Safety hazards, incidents and concerns to the immediate supervisor/manager. Management will ensure employees are provided with job specific Environmental, Health & Safety information, training and also ensure employees follow workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Experience and Educational Requirements
Work Experience:
- Previous working experience in a secure environment would be an asset
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual
- Excellent computer skills
- Excellent math skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced “manufacturing” environment
- Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize with good attention to detail
- System Application Program ( SAP ) knowledge and experience would be an asset
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
- Forklift operation certification/license required
Working Conditions
- Overtime may be required
- Fast paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to communicate via phone and email
- Safety shoes and smock required on the production floor
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to climb ladders
- Able to stand or sit for long periods of time
