 Summary

 

The Senior Test Automation Developer will be involved in all aspects of software test automation planning, be responsible for preparation, automation development, execution, and reporting on the test automation activities for assigned projects. The Senior Test Automation Developer will also work with the Test Lead to ensure that Test Automation activities are aligned with the overall test strategy and that the automation test coverage can be measured automatically based on the mapping to manual test cases.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the Project Leader in project planning (esp. identification of work packages, effort estimation)
  • Actively work with the software architects to create test Automation Architecture, Test Plan and Test Strategy
  • Plan and organize automation tests
  • Execute automated tests and for analyze test results
  • Participate in the selection of automation test tools
  • Build and maintain automated sanity and regression test suites for feature and system verification
  • Work with the architecture team to design performance and non-functional testing strategy and execute this strategy for selected projects and for all core releases
  • Actively work with the development team regarding new software, bug fixes, upgrades and deployments to assess the impact on automation test suites
  • Report and communicate product deficiencies, test automation progress and results
  • Additionally assist customer support and sustaining engineering teams in creating data to replicate, verify and investigate client-reported defects
  • Collaborate with manual test team members and Test Lead to review manual test cases and to map these to automation tests to ensure efficient fit into the overall test strategy
  • Adheres to defined organization processes and recommends process improvements

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science or Engineering related discipline or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in creating & implementing test automation architecture & strategy
  • Experience with automated test development and frameworks
  • Software development experience in Java, C#/.NET
  • Experience with UI testing is preferred
  • Solid experience with J2EE Application Servers preferably WebSphere or JBoss
  • Experience with RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server) technology including creation of SQL queries
  • Experience testing enterprise level transactional software (financial sector preferred)
  • Experience generating and executing structured test plans at the integration and system level
  • Experience and understanding of multi-tier web and client/server applications, and associated computer hardware.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Unix and Windows
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging and problem analysis skills
  • Good understanding of software development methodologies (CMMI, Agile, Iterative)
  • Excellent knowledge of related tools (MS TFS, Visual Studio, SOAP UI, Selenium, Coded UI, FlaUI, JMeter)
  • Excellent ability to communicate and work effectively with other team members in a multicultural and international environment
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Must conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times
  • Generates enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit and support of company objectives
  • Utilizes sound judgment in dealing with business information
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined
  • Flexibility to work long hours as necessary
  • Ability to handle high pressure in a professional manner
