Lead Developer 

Location: Markham

Job Summary

The position of lead developer is to contribute to full development life cycle, including: requirement analysis, functional design, technical design, programming, testing, documentation, implementation, and ongoing technical support. This includes leading a team of programmers who are responsible for application developments , deployment , provide technical support and training.

Lead Developer will be responsible to control and vet all changes coming into the team through the continuous development continuous integration and release process. Lead Developer will also define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices as it relates to CDP  Global Rollout and Support.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead CDP development and Support team by providing guidance and/or instruction to team member for initiatives and project responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with development manager, other software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design and develop web and desktop application and services using Microsoft Technologies.
  • Configure client setup on Common Development Platform (CDP) to reflect technical requirements.
  • Integrating existing software products and getting incompatible platforms to work together.
  • Perform unit, performance, integration and user acceptance testing.
  • Package and support deployment or releases to Global Production Sites.
  • Complete Change Management documentation and adhere to change management processes.
  • Provide technical leadership through coaching and mentorship.
  • Provide third-level support and coverage for CDP and other software's alike.
  • Interface with development manager and project manager for status and progress update for project works.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure project deliverables are met on time and per quoted work effort.
  • Responsible of being the system administrator for CDP and other software's alike.
  • Works closely with peer group in the IT organization to ensure appropriate level of communication and transfer of knowledge are taking place between their teams.
  • Provide documentation on IT processes and procedures as well as documentation on programming changes or new code modules.
  • Allocates personnel to projects and directs their activities, evaluates work and performance, in conjunction with internal stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned by Director, Global R&D

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Work with IT scheduling to manage incoming implementation requests.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with Director, Global R&D to provide updates and status of team.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to production issues.

Qualifications, Experience and Educational Requirements

Skills and Competencies:

  • 5+ years software development experience with Microsoft Technologies
  • Prior experience in a technical leadership position.
  • In depth knowledge and experience with core Microsoft .Net technologies including: Web API ,WCF, WPF and Windows Services.
  • Proficient with Microsoft .NET development using C#.
  • Knowledge and working experience with other Microsoft programming languages (VC++)  is required (additional experience with VB.Net is an asset).
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL is required (stored procedures, functions, queries)
  • Working experience in agile , devops environments.
  • Excellent understanding of various file formats and software integration.
  • An excellent verbal and written communication skill.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment is required.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects is required.
  • Must be willing to travel to our regional offices, global production sites to provide support and coverage.

Education:

  • University degree is a must (computer science or computer engineering)

Working Conditions

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • At times, may be required to work evening or weekends to meet deadlines.
  • Also be required to travel to our offices, production sites in other countries.
