Job Summary:  The Quality Assurance Engineer’s primary responsibility for Management of Quality Data and Measurement systems.  Supporting Quality Engineering and Product Engineering providing data collection and analysis information.  Definition of Control Plans, Inspection plans, measurement systems and sampling programs.  Managing Measurement systems, Calibration and Test instructions to ensure integrity of data.

Participate in improvement efforts and scrap reduction initiatives to establish an effective quality management system. Assist in the implementation of quality improvement activities appropriate to raise the performance of the company’s product. Educate and train employees regarding their impact in the quality control process.


Job Duties:

  • Review and understand Customer, International (ISO) and Group Company measurement requirements and implement locally.
  • Manage Instrument Calibration Program which includes performing gauge calibration activities when necessary.
  • Manage Laboratory Equipment and retention of records and samples.
  • Perform and organize Gauge R & R
  • Assist with R&D product/process qualifications
  • Support engineering efforts by participating in product development projects representing Quality Assurance and the customer
  • Collect and review measurement data to provide Statistical analysis.  Including SPC (Statistical Process Control) data analysis.  Calculation of Stand Deviations, Confidence Intervals, Impact of Sample size, Cpk and Correlation data.
  • Implement Mini-Tab or similar Tool.
  • Compile Design of Experiments to understand and interpret data, identifying Common and special causes of Variation
  • Report compliance to all required procedures and work instructions as required by ISO per the G+D Twinsburg’s Quality System Manual.
  • Serve as the primary Quality Assurance resource to department supervisor(s) and manager(s) for measurement and product Quality definitions.
  • Design and implement methods for process control, process improvements, testing and inspections
  • Develop/Revise internal quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology and quality plans, documents
  • Review customer purchase orders, contracts and change requests, when necessary. In addition, ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans
  • Develop, execute and analyze quality reporting measures.
  • Provide reports on quality issues, trends and losses to Quality Manager.
  • Participate in G+D’s internal quality audits program
  • Review supplier purchase orders and order specifications, and establish Supplier quality requirements, when necessary.
  • Interface with supplier quality representatives regarding quality non- conformances and ensure effective corrective actions is implemented
  • Compile, write and deliver training material on quality standards and activities.
  • Train QA staff and production operators, as necessary
  • Monitor QA Technicians daily activities
  • Must maintain a safe and suitable environment through proper housekeeping in the area where your work is performed.
  • Work on projects and other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years quality assurance/quality control experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in quality, engineering (mechanical, industrial or manufacturing) or certification in Metrology or Quality Assurance preferred
  • Experience of Measurement Laboratory operations.
  • Detailed knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control
  • Detailed understanding of Metrology and Gauge R&R
  • Diverse knowledge of inspection control methods, techniques, and documentation
  • Knowledge of and experience with the following ISO 9001, 8D, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), including DFMEA, PFMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), QFD (Quality Function Deployment), DoE (Design of Experiments) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
  • Familiar with Six Sigma theory and principles
  • Strong computer skills including QA applications (i.e. Mini-Tab), Microsoft Office, and database development.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Understanding of general safety requirements.
