Local Compliance and Data Protection Officer
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Local Compliance and Data Protection Officer to oversee Compliance, Data Protection, ESG and Sustainability to join our team. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance in the USA and Canada with all internal and external policies, data protection integrity and ensure environmental, social, and economic sustainability supporting our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity in our operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Compliance
- Implement strong controls and provide direction on compliance subjects, regulatory frameworks, standards, internal policies, and procedures, and prepare clear and concise compliance reports under monthly basis.
- Establish standards and implement procedures to ensure that compliance programs are effective in identifying, preventing, and addressing non-compliance issues.
- Develop and oversee compliance training for the management and employees, cultivating a culture of awareness to compliance, financial crime prevention, and risk mitigation requirements and adherence.
- Point of communication to the Veridos Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) for any enquires related to compliance.
Data Protection
- Monitor processes, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with Veridos data privacy protection standards.
- Implement compliance with data privacy laws, corporate guidelines, and local policies.
- Provide advice to local management on data privacy issues (for quotes, tenders, etc.)
- Handle any violation of data & privacy incident and complaints.
- Point of communication to the Veridos Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) for any enquires related to Data Privacy.
ESG & Sustainability
- Adhere to Veridos environmental, social and governance (ESG) guidelines by capturing all the non-financial risks and opportunities inherent to our day-to-day activities.
- Work and assess the environmental, social, and governance performance of companies in the north American region.
- Monitor and report on the sustainability economic balance, social, and environmental aspects for the long-term well-being of present and future of Veridos.
- Keep informed of evolving industry trends and best practices and conduct peer benchmarking to evaluate the organization's progress to advise on a strategy and action plans.
Qualifications, Experience and Educational Requirements
Experience
- 5-8 years’ experience as a compliance and data protection officer.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent English communication skills both verbally and written, with exceptional interpersonal & public speaking abilities. French language fluency desirable.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to meet deadlines of competing demands with limited guidance and determine priorities independently.
- Proactive, analytical, resourceful “out-of-the-box” attitude with critical problem-solving and strategic planning capabilities.
- Remarkable organizational skills, especially conducting oneself in a professional manner with integrity, ambition, and willingness to take responsibility & accountability.
- Resistant to rejection and push backs from managers and staff alike when adhering and implementing to company policies. Be resilient!
Education
- Juris Doctorate or master’s in business, Accounting, or other university degree suitable for compliance.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid work - home and office setting
- Required to sit in front of a computer for long periods of time.
- Meet strict reporting deadlines.
