Job Summary: The Machine Operator Level 2 is responsible to set up and operate various machines throughout the facility in a safe and efficient manner. Machine Operators will manage setting up the production run, carry out tests and ensure that the machine runs quality product throughout their shift. Machine Operator Level 2 will be assigned in the following work departments/cost centers:
Auto Inspection (Manual), Collation (All Machines), Cutting, Ink Lab Technician, Lead LAM Operation, Milling & Embedding Combo Machine, Press Helper, QC/Trainer, Support Cell, Tape Laying
Job Duties:
- Set up machines at the beginning of shift and make adjustments according to job specifications to ensure proper working order
- Perform testing procedures to ensure that machines work optimally during the production procedures
- Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift
- Feed machine and operate according to manufacturer settings
- Calibrate machines at the beginning of each shift and at the end of each shift
- Monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum performance
- Troubleshoot problems during machine operation and resolve process issues, partner with Shift Lead as needed
- Ensure that regular and preventative maintenance procedures are carried out
- Perform random tests to ensure accuracy
- Perform safety checks on every machine
- Perform audits and quality checks
- Perform all ink mixing and related duties such as cold matching, proofing, testing, disposal, and inventory of ink and supplies (Ink Lab Technician position only)
- Ensure that machines are producing quality products by managing periodic checks on output
- Ensure stocks of needed materials are ready and available at all times
- Create and maintain activity logs
- Provide relevant information regarding progress to supervisors
- Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
Accountabilities:
- Reports to the Senior Supervisor over the shift and receives direction from the Shift Lead
- Performs Machine Set Up according to job specifications to ensure quality production run
- Conduct periodic quality tests to ensure quality of production runs
- Conduct periodic inspection on calibration of equipment being used to ensure accuracy
- Responsible for quality of finished work on the shift
- Works to achieve attainment of departmental goals
- Follows established safety and environmental compliance
- General maintenance and performance of the department
Job Specifications:
- Exposure to shop noise
- Required to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to operate a mechanical machinery
- Physically able to bend, lift, and stand over long periods of time
- Flexibility on schedule (must be able to work overtime and on weekends on an as needed basis)
- Ability to look at work being produced in high speed environment for extended periods of time
- Adheres to MasterCard and Visa association security standards
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in similar manufacturing role
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, technical trade school training is preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals
- Ability to perform multiple tasks
- Strong attention to detail
- Understanding of quality processes and procedures
- Computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applications is preferred
- Safety conscious with a good understanding of general safety requirements
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required
