Machine Operator II

Job Summary:  The Machine Operator Level 2  is responsible to set up and operate various machines throughout the facility in a safe and efficient manner.  Machine Operators will manage setting up the production run,  carry out tests and ensure that the machine runs quality product throughout their shift.  Machine Operator Level 2 will be assigned in the following work departments/cost centers:

 

Auto Inspection (Manual), Collation (All Machines), Cutting, Ink Lab Technician, Lead LAM Operation, Milling & Embedding Combo Machine, Press Helper, QC/Trainer, Support Cell, Tape Laying

 

Job Duties:

  • Set up machines at the beginning of shift and make adjustments according to job specifications to ensure proper working order
  • Perform testing procedures to ensure that machines work optimally during the production procedures
  • Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift
  • Feed machine and operate according to manufacturer settings
  • Calibrate machines at the beginning of each shift and at the end of each shift
  • Monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum performance
  • Troubleshoot problems during machine operation and resolve process issues, partner with Shift Lead as needed
  • Ensure that regular and preventative maintenance procedures are carried out
  • Perform random tests to ensure accuracy
  • Perform safety checks on every machine
  • Perform audits and quality checks
  • Perform all ink mixing and related duties such as cold matching, proofing, testing, disposal, and inventory of ink and supplies (Ink Lab Technician position only)
  • Ensure that machines are producing quality products by managing periodic checks on output
  • Ensure stocks of needed materials are ready and available at all times
  • Create and maintain activity logs
  • Provide relevant information regarding progress to supervisors
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates

 

Accountabilities:

  • Reports to the Senior Supervisor over the shift and receives direction from the Shift Lead
  • Performs Machine Set Up according to job specifications to ensure quality production run
  • Conduct periodic quality tests to ensure quality of production runs
  • Conduct periodic inspection on calibration of equipment being used to ensure accuracy
  • Responsible for quality of finished work on the shift
  • Works to achieve attainment of departmental goals
  • Follows established safety and environmental compliance
  • General maintenance and performance of the department

 

Job Specifications:

  • Exposure to shop noise
  • Required to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to operate a mechanical machinery
  • Physically able to bend, lift, and stand over long periods of time
  • Flexibility on schedule (must be able to work overtime and on weekends on an as needed basis)
  • Ability to look at work being produced in high speed environment for extended periods of time
  • Adheres to MasterCard and Visa association security standards

 

        Qualifications:         

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in similar manufacturing role
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, technical trade school training is preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of quality processes and procedures
  • Computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applications is preferred
  • Safety conscious with a good understanding of general safety requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required
